The Methodology

How Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Works

CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors. It is based on the interconnectedness of our thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Cognition (Thoughts)

What we think affects how we act and feel. In CBT, we identify negative thought patterns and evaluate their accuracy.

Emotion (Feelings)

What we feel affects what we think and do. Emotional responses are often triggered by our interpretation of events, not the events themselves.

Action (Behaviors)

What we do affects how we think and feel. Changing maladaptive behaviors can lead to positive shifts in thoughts and emotions.
